Deck Plans: Setting Up, Trying the Add-on, Switching It On

Deck plans are free to set up. Pinning on them is a paid add-on: the 30-day free trial, asking your account owner, switching it on or off

Deck plans are the vessel's own General Arrangement drawing, cut into one image per deck. Setting them up is free on every vessel. What you can put on them is the Deck Plans add-on, priced per vessel per month.

Setting up the decks (free)

Technical → Deck Plans → Add deck plans. Pick the GA from the vessel's documents or upload it, draw a box round each deck, name it, and set the order. Anyone with Technical settings access can do this. Under Advanced at the bottom of the page, each deck can also have zones (named areas, and cabins) and frame numbers. None of that needs the add-on.

What the add-on adds

  • •Jobs where they are. A deck plan view of the job list, pins placed from a phone photo, and yard work lists, tender packs and contractor lists sorted by deck.
  • •Equipment and stock where they live, placed from the Equipment and Inventory registers.
  • •Safety → Safety Plan. The fire control plan drawn from the Equipment register (extinguishers, life rafts, EEBDs and the rest), with live hot-work and enclosed-space permits shown where the work is. A permit is placed from the permit itself, under Location on board.
  • •Survey findings by location. Each finding on a survey can be placed where it was raised; open ones show on the job plan view too.
  • •Accommodation. Draw cabins as zones, tick Cabin, and Charter → Accommodation (or Crew → Accommodation) shows who is in which cabin and lets you put guests and crew in them.
  • •Contractor logins. A contractor sees only their own jobs, on the drawing.

Trying it: the free trial

If you are the account owner, an account admin for the vessel, or a Sealogical administrator, the Deck Plans page offers Start 30-day free trial. Press it, read the date in the confirmation, and confirm. Everything above is on straight away.

  • •The trial is free until the date shown. From that date it is added to your subscription at the price shown, on your next invoice, unless you switch it off first.
  • •You are reminded by email 7 days before, 1 day before, and on the day.
  • •Each vessel gets one trial. After it, the button reads Add to subscription.

Asking for it

If you cannot switch it on yourself, press Ask your account owner to switch this on. Your account owner and admins get a notification and an email with a link to the page, and Sealogical is copied. The button then reads Request sent with the date, so nobody is asked twice.

Switching it on, or off, later

Settings → Add-ons lists every vessel you manage with the add-on's state: Off, Free trial until a date, or On since a date. From there you can Add to subscription or Switch off. Switching off keeps every deck plan, pin and cabin; switching back on brings them back.
